Protocols

First of all,  I want to give glory to God for sparing our lives to witness today’s Ibadan Conference which is part of the Annual Ibadan Festival organized by Jericho Businessmen Club every year. I pray that God in his infinite mercy will continue to guide us aright, in Jesus name. Amen.

It is very important to recognize the presence of our Guest of Honor, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Samuel Osundiran Odulana, Odugade 1, Olubadan of Ibadan. His Excellency, Senator Abiola Isiaka Ajimobi, The Executive Governor of Oyo State. I want to recognize the presence of Professor Olaniyi Okedele, from University of Lagos (UNILAG), Faculty of Environmental Sciences, the Lecturer for today’s Ibadan Conference. The Chairman of this occasion Oba Otudeko. The Father of the day and overall President, Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the root of all Ibadan Clubs, home and in diaspora, Chief Adebayo Oyero. The President of Oluyole Club of Lagos, Professor Adeniyi Osuntogun ably represented by the second V. P, Alhaji Rasaq Oladejo, former DDG of the Nigeria Stock Exchange (NSE). Immediate Past President of Oluyole Club, Lagos, Prof & Mrs. Bashiru Akande. Former Minister for Commerce and Industries, Chief (Dr.) Mrs. Nike Akande OON. The Executive Management of First Bank ably led by the GMD/CEO, Mr. Bisi Onasanya. Other distinguished invited guests, members of our great club, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, you are all welcome.

Ibadan Conference

I welcome you all to today’s Ibadan Conference, which is part of the Annual Ibadan Festival put together by Jericho Businessmen Club for the sole aim of the development of Ibadan Land in Particular and Oyo State in General. The very essence of Ibadan Conference is to re-unite among ourselves, an avenue which Ibadan people come together and resolve their different opinions, observations, e.t.c for common interest. Jericho Businessmen Club was founded for the purpose of the wellbeing of Ibadan People, which hitherto, the club have been consistent about, and putting first in all our activities: a. Education and Empowerment Scheme. Jericho Businessmen Club (JBC) desires to assist in the social and economic upliftment of all indigenes of Ibadan Land as part of its contributions to the ultimate development of Ibadan Land. The club believes that this objective can come to reality through interventions in two critical areas of education and trade.

Education

It has become the tradition of the Club to give scholarship to the academically gifted students of Ibadan in every year in order to assist the vulnerable indigenes of Ibadan Land to achieve whatever they desire in life in their chosen career.

Trade

By the introduction of Micro Credit Scheme through Empowerment Program by Jericho Businessmen Club to Ibadan indigenes, the Club has granted a loan of (N50,000.00) fifty thousand Naira Micro Credit Loan to each of the first set of 20 beneficiaries, that have even started to repay the loan. The loan is meant for the active indigenes of Ibadan and the scheme is handled by M/S SeedVest Finance. The objective of this scheme is to ameliorate poverty amongst the people of Ibadan and leave a lasting legacy for prosperity. b. Donation of Computers and Standby Generator to Ibadan House. The donation of Computers and a standby generator to Ibadan House by Jericho Businessmen Club is to enhance easy communication and networking amongst the people of Ibadan Land which will also make their work more efficient in their daily routines.

Contribution to the New Olubadan Palace

As part of the responsibilities of the Club, contribution towards the building of the new Olubadan Palace was also made in order to have a modern structure and a befitting Palace for the Olubadan.
